I’m Anna Schulten, the Youth Minister at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Anchorage, Alaska. I’m so excited you found this little blog!!
Why blog with WordPress? Well, for a few reasons…
1. For MyParish App.
2. To streamline my output.
I regularly maintain Trello as the Youth Ministry Newsletter, and although that’s been a lot of fun, I’m going to be switching over to Wordpress as a hub for all my information… for example,
3. Digital Calendaring
I’ve begun logging our Youth Ministry events on Google’s Calendar. You can see all our events through December 2016 there… you can even add our calendar to your calendar, so you never miss an event.
And also for some future ideas…
4. Youth Ministry is going paperless!
Beginning Summer 2016, all Youth Ministry forms may be filled out digitally. They may also be filled out on paper, for those who are more comfortable with that avenue.
5. To maintain social media.
Let’s be honest: your newsfeed is probably overweight with negativity and politics. My goal is to share Catholic content on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram on a regular basis. All of our social media accounts can be accessed right here on WordPress, too!
6. Making emails matter.
I’d like to switch over to MailChimp as our primary emailing service, so I can differentiate the weekly bulk emails from my personal emails. I can also add people to my mailing list straight from WordPress. Convenient, yes?
But, really, the main goal is this:
Through this blog, I hope to connect teens, young adults, and parents with each other and with Christ through evangelization, outreach for shared experiences, and communication in a way that is both beautiful and informative.
